Complacency and the Call to Grow

Nature never stands still, even in summer. Late summer is full of quiet preparation: seeds begin to fall, the light starts to shift, and trees begin to let go. It reminds us that even in seasons of warmth and abundance, growth means change.
But when we stop listening, when we stop evolving, we risk staying stuck in comfort that no longer serves us.
Complacency isn’t ease, it’s quiet decay and wisdom is always calling us to more.
This photo was taken during one of those turning points. It was the height of COVID. Jerry and I were planning to move to Brooklyn with our 6-month-old, when everything came to a halt. We ended up in the Catskills, living in a 400 sq. ft. cottage with no washer or dryer for three months, figuring out our next step.
There was no plan, just stillness, silence, and learning how to be present. That season led us somewhere unexpected: Phoenix, Arizona. But even more than a place, it led us back to gratitude, clarity, and direction.
Let this be your reminder:
Don’t fear the pause. Don’t resist the shift. Even in summer, life is inviting you to listen, to evolve, and to trust what’s unfolding.
